ORGANIC COSMETIC CERTIFICATE
Organic cosmetics are increasingly chosen by people for their safety, efficiency and good values in production and consumption. Therefore, there are many cosmetics that claim to be organic cosmetics to attract the attention of customers. So how do we know the true organic cosmetics? Organic certification standards will partly help consumers to solve this problem.
Reliable organic certifications need to ensure an important factor: the nature of the product. Organic cosmetics must be excluded from the composition of petrochemical compounds or pure synthetics, silicones, etheroxyl compounds, toxic preservatives from healthy jellyfish, synthetic colorants, etc.
At the same time, these certifications ensure that products are not tested on animals, the production process does not harm the health or the environment and the packaging does not pollute the environment. Each organic certification ensures a minimum amount of organic ingredients. That is the biggest difference between certifications.
Let's explore some of the internationally recognised organic certification organisations:
ECOCERT - the world's most prestigious certification
ECOCERT is an organic certification organization founded in 1991 in France, that has conducted tests in more than 80 countries and is now one of the largest organic certification organisations in the world. ECOCERT certification is the most important and most reputable standard for manufacturers of natural and organic cosmetics that require at least 95% natural ingredients in an organic cosmetic product or transform from nature according to strict, careful process; At least 95% of the plant component and a minimum of 10% of the total ingredients must be organic. This standard ensures the purity and quality of products in the natural cosmetic industry.
So how can ECOCERT assess the ingredients in organic cosmetics that are natural? This is the method for them to check the quality and the origin of ingredients:
- Seeds of plants are not subject to genetic changes;
- The plantations do not use chemical fertilizers;
- Do not use pesticides and pest control done with the help of insects or animals that are their natural enemies or non-toxic drugs approved by ECOCERT
- Producing and storing products in an environmentally friendly building;
- Besides, the manufacturer must have a special and thorough program to monitor the production process of cosmetics, from quality of raw materials to packaging. ECOCERT will conduct inspections of production lines twice a year to confirm the actual implementation of all requirements.

COSMOS - European uniform standard
Approved by 5 European members: BDIH (Germany), Cosmebio (France), Ecocer Greenlife (France), ICEA (Italy) and Soil Association (England), this organisation mainly uses organic standards from Ecocert on the basis of:
- Encourage the use of organic ingredients
- Production process and safety modulation for environment and people
- Use and expand the concept of "green chemicals’
USDA - Standard of the United States Department of Agriculture - National Organic Committee
In addition to the basic requirements of organic ingredients as well as production processes, USDA is very strict with synthetic preservatives as well as chemical ingredients used in cosmetic preparations
BDIH - Strict German standards
One of the most rigorous standards in the world, for German manufacturers. List of ingredients allowed and prohibited to use, required in the production process and preservation methods are very strict. Certification is only available after independent monitoring organizations have checked BDIH procedures.
ACO & BFA - AUSTRALIAN Organic Standard
ACO is the Australian government organic certification. Meanwhile BFA (now changed to Australian Organic) is the largest organisation representing organic agriculture in Australia and the southern Pacific.
Organic certifications are one of the most effective tools to ensure the actual organic nature of the product. However, because of time, cost, or conception against the commercialisation of organic certifications, some brands do not have these certificates even if their products meet organic standards. In that case, the list of components, the reputation of the manufacturer, the producer country will be the reference factors that help choose
